American actor Daveigh Chase, best known for her unforgettable performances in The Ring and Lilo and Stitch, has passed away. The former child actor passed away at the age of 35. Her longtime manager and friend, John Ryan Jr., confirmed to BBC on June 17, 2026.

According to Ryan, Chase passed away on June 16, 2026, after developing multiple health complications. Remembering Chase, Ryan described her as a private individual with a profound love for animals. "She was the greatest. She loved cats. She worked with cat rescues with us. She was very much to herself," he said. Reflecting on her lifestyle, he added that Chase often spent long periods away from the spotlight at her Las Vegas home and frequently chose independent productions over major studio opportunities.
Chase became a household name in 2002 with her chilling portrayal of Samara Morgan in The Ring, the American adaptation of the Japanese horror classic. Her haunting performance as the ghostly child emerging from a television screen left a lasting mark on pop culture and earned her the MTV Movie Award for Best Villain in 2003.
The Voice Behind Lilo
The same year, Chase showcased a completely different side of her talent by voicing Lilo Pelekai in animated hit Lilo And Stitch. Her heartfelt performance as the spirited Hawaiian girl earned widespread praise and won her an Annie Award for Best Voice Acting in an Animated Feature Production. She later reprised the role in multiple spin-offs and television adaptations.
Chase also lent her voice to Chihiro Ogino in the English-language version of the Academy Award-winning animated film Spirited Away. Beyond animation, she made an impressive career with appearances in Charmed, ER, and Touched by an Angel. She further earned recognition for her recurring role as Rhonda Volmer in HBO’s acclaimed drama Big Love.
