Toy Story 5 EXCLUSIVE: “Bound Together by Something Bigger Than We Ever Imagined”: Tom Hanks on Returning as Woody
Disney and Pixar's Tom Hanks and Tim Allen starrer Toy Story 5 will release on June 19, 2026, in India.
With Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story 5, the world’s most beloved toys are set to return to the big screen for another heartfelt adventure. Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Jessie, and the rest of the gang face a brand-new challenge in the form of Lilypad, an innovative tablet device that arrives with her own disruptive ideas about what is best for their kid, Bonnie.
In an exclusive conversation with Pinkvilla, Academy Award winner Tom Hanks, who has voiced Sheriff Woody since the franchise began in 1995, reflected on returning to the iconic series that has entertained and inspired generations of audiences around the world.
Reuniting with longtime co-star Tim Allen, the voice of Buzz Lightyear, for Toy Story 5, Hanks described the franchise as much more than a successful film series. According to the Oscar-winning actor, the films continue to explore timeless themes that resonate with viewers of all ages.
“These films are part of an ongoing examination of youthfulness, the powers of imagination, creativity, and belonging to something bigger than yourself,” Hanks told Pinkvilla. “We are now five movies in, and they've yet to repeat themselves. These films are impressive works of art. Tim and I, we're bound together by this, it's so much bigger than what we ever could have imagined.”
Toy Story 5 is directed by Academy Award winner Andrew Stanton, known for WALL-E, Finding Nemo, and Finding Dory. The film is co-directed by Kenna Harris, whose previous work includes Ciao Alberto, and produced by Lindsey Collins, known for Turning Red, WALL-E, and Finding Dory.
Adding to the excitement, Academy Award-winning composer Randy Newman returns to score his fifth Toy Story feature, continuing a musical legacy that has become synonymous with the franchise.
Toy Story 5 releases in theatres across India on June 19, 2026, in both English and Hindi.
