Earlier this year, Chris Evans kissed Captain America goodbye with Avengers: Endgame. The actor, who became a synonym to the Marvel superhero, decided to pass the shield to Anthony Mackie. The actor will be holding up the shield in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Although he announced his retirement from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, fans are hoping Evans would don the suit for a cameo in one of the upcoming MCU projects (either for the Black Widow standalone movie or Disney Plus' The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.)

While there are possibilities, Evans broke hearts when he revealed he might not be returning to MCU anytime soon. In a conversation with Scarlett Johansson, the Black Widow star spoke to Evans about playing Captain America again. The actor began by expressing his love for the character and added that he didn't know if he would return to Marvel.

"It’s not a hard no, but it’s not an eager yes either. There are other things that I’m working on right now. I think Cap had such a tricky act to stick the landing, and I think they did a really nice job letting him complete his journey. If you’re going to revisit it, it can’t be a cash grab. It can’t be just because the audience wants to be excited. What are we revealing? What are we adding to the story? A lot of things would have to come together," he said. "It doesn’t feel, at this time, that would be a thing," he added.

Scarlett looked back at Cap's ending in Avengers: Endgame and deemed it "beautiful cathartic ending." "I think he deserved that. It was all his happiness," she said.

"It’d be a shame to sour that. I’m very protective of it. It was such a precious time, and jumping onto the movie was a terrifying prospect to me. I said no a bunch of times, and there’s a million and one ways it could have gone wrong. It almost feels like maybe we should let this one sit," Evans replied.

While we are disappointed that we might not get to see Chris Evans in MCU anytime soon, we cannot help but agree with him.
