Jon Moxley, an indie-wrestling darling known for his unpredictability and gruesome matches, entered FCW in 2011 and became Dean Ambrose. In 2012, Dean would be one-third of the faction, The Shield along with Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns. While many assumed that Dean would be the best fit to turn heel post The Shield's split, it instead fell into the hands of Seth. No one could imagine that out of the three wrestlers, it would be Dean, who would become the most popular with the WWE Universe.

At Money in the Bank 2016, Dean had his dream come true as he won his first and unfortunately, only WWE Championship. The wrestler has had some epic rivalries with the likes of Seth Rollins, AJ Styles, Kevin Owens and Triple H during his singles run. In January 2019, WWE confirmed that Dean was not re-signing with the company. The reason most likely being his displeasure with the creative team regarding his storyline. At RAW after Wrestlemania 35, Dean had his final match (not really!) and got the perfect send-off by his Shield brothers.

As we bid adieu to Dean, let's take a look at his 5 epic matches that will make you miss The Lunatic Fringe:

1. Dean Ambrose vs. Seth Rollins - Hell in a Cell 2014

We wouldn't be wrong when we say that Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins are wrestling soulmates. Whether it's beside each other in The Shield or against one another, it's impossible to have a bad match with these two involved. It was difficult to choose one but Dean vs. Seth at Hell in a Cell 2014 proved just how HOT the crowd could get for the 'new' guys. The steel cage drop to the announce table still gives us goosebumps. Their chemistry inside the ring could be rivalled with the best of the best!

2. Dean Ambrose vs. Triple H - Roadblock 2016

While Roman Reigns was handpicked for the main event at Wrestlemania 32, Dean Ambrose was the chosen one for the WWE Universe. He was the hottest star in WWE at that time and the thunderous pops he always got was further proof of that. We got to see how a Dean vs Triple H Wrestlemania 32 main event could have been at Roadblock 2016. Their chemistry was magnetic and we wish to have seen more of this fantastic rivalry.

3. Dean Ambrose vs. Alberto Del Rio, Chris Jericho, Cesaro, Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn - Money In The Bank 2016

Up until Money in The Bank 2016, Dean Ambrose was the only Shield member to not have held the WWE Championship. However, that changed at MITB as Dean not only won the Money in The Bank Ladder Match but that same night, Dean would also cash in his contract and defeat Seth Rollins to win his first and only WWE Championship. The Las Vegas crowd was on their feet because they knew, Dean deserved it!

4. Dean Ambrose vs. AJ Styles - TLC 2016

Dean Ambrose's rivalry with AJ Styles was near perfection and helped elevate WWE SmackDown post the roster split. While their first clash at Backlash 2016 was epic in itself, we have a slight inclination towards their brutal encounter at TLC 2016. Easily, their bout could have been Match of the Year.

5. Dean Ambrose vs. Kevin Owens - Royal Rumble 2016

Another rivalry of Dean Ambrose's that worked like a charm was with Kevin Owens. While most of their segment was of the comedy genre, Dean and Kevin did what they do best at Royal Rumble 2016; have the best physically taxing match that keeps you at the edge of your seats. We still cringe at the end when Dean pushes Kevin off the top rope crushing two tables and secures the Intercontinental Championship. Later that night, both the wrestlers would also compete in the Men's Royal Rumble Match, bruised and battered.
