The Men in Blue with encounter New Zealand in the first semi-finals of the on-going World Cup tournament, today at Old Trafford cricket ground, Manchester. Former Indian fast bowler, Ajit Agarkar feels that India might need a sixth bowler against New Zealand.

While speaking to ESPN Cricinfo, Agarkar said that he wants both the spinners to be playing as they have been one of the reasons why India has been successful as they have. He also mentioned that Mohammed Shami obviously has a far better form that Bhuvneshwar Kumar at this moment.

Ravindra Jadeja who played his first match of the tournament against Sri Lanka, managed to claim a wicket and was economical in his bowling. Prior to that, he has also been quite useful for the Men in Blue as a substitute fielder. While Jadeja is still struggling to claim a spot in the playing 11 against New Zealand, Agarkar believes that he can a little bit of a risk if it is a flat pitch. He added that Jadeja can be the sixth bowler but he is not sure to have him as the seventh batsman.

“He then becomes your sixth bowler but is India confident enough to have him as the seventh batsman, I am not quite sure. Then Kedar comes into the picture, I think he can give you a few overs. I think India still need a sixth bowler. Without any disrespect to New Zealand, they might feel like going with (5 bowlers) against them, because I think their batting is not doing as well,” Agarkar added.
