ICC World Cup 2019: Prize money England, New Zealand and other participating teams earned in the tournament

England cricket team claimed their first ever World Cup title at Lord’s on Sunday, July 14 on the basis of scoring more boundaries in the match.

Ten teams participated in the 2019 World Cup tournament which ended with a super over on Sunday.

ENGLAND $4,240,000 - The hosts, who were declared as winners in the final, claimed the highest ever prize money in the history of cricket. England cricket team earned a total of $4,240,000 which is the highest prize money a winning team has received in the history of cricketing events.

NEW ZEALAND $2,200,000- The Black Caps emerged as the runner ups in the thrilling encounter of the final. They defeated the Men in Blue in the semi-finals to enter the final which ended with a super over. However, the team lost the match with a tie in the super over as well and England claimed the title on the basis of more boundaries. New Zealand received $2,200,000 as their prize money.

INDIA AND AUSTRALIA $1,080,000- Both India and Australia entered the semi-finals of the tournament, but eventually lost against New Zealand and England respectively in the semis. Both the team received $1,080,000 each for claiming the third and fourth spot in the points table.

PAKISTAN $300,000 - The Men in Green failed to claim their position in the top four and ended their league stage at the fifth position in the points table. They earned a total of $300,000 as their prize money in the World Cup tournament.

SRI LANKA, SOUTH AFRICA AND BANGLADESH $220,000- Three teams, Sri Lanka, South Africa and Bangladesh received $220,000 for ending their league stage at sixth , seventh and eighth position, respectively. Sri Lanka ended their World Cup campaign with 8 points, whereas South Africa and Bangladesh claimed 7 points each.

WEST INDIES $180,000- The Windies managed to only register two victories in the tournament and ended their World Cup campaign with prize money of $180,000.

AFGHANISTAN $100,000- Despite having several close encounters in the tournament, Aghanistan failed to register a single win and ended at the bottom of the points table. They claimed $100,00 after a poor performance in the ICC World Cup 2019.
