Legendary Australian cricketer, Steve Waugh believes that Australia will still remain in a position to defend their trophy despite getting defeated by the Men in Blue in their previous match.

Former Australian Captain and two-time World Cup winner, Steve Waugh believes that Australia has time to make the necessary changes and bounce back before the semi-finals. He said that they wouldn’t be too disappointed as they have time to dissect this loss, find tune with batting process, tinker their batting order and manoeuvre things before the semi-finals.

Steve also mentioned that it is a wide open tournament right now and 6 teams have a chance to lift the World Cup 2019 trophy at The Lords.

However, Glenn Maxwell who managed to play some hard-hitting boundaries in that match said that the team doesn’t need to change anything. He also mentioned that they just need a bit of luck on their way and that they were not that far off.

“We were trying to keep up with the run rate but they bowled really well and fielded out of their skins. Their tactics were really good and the built pressure on us too quickly.” he added.

Australia faced its first defeat in the tournament against the Men in Blue by 36 runs. They won all the previous matches in the tournament against Afghanistan and West Indies by 7 wickets and 15 runs, respectively. The team will look forward to play their next match against the Men in Green tomorrow, June 12 at County Ground, Taunton.
