The controversial businessman and former MP, Vijay Mallya who is accused of several money laundering and fraud cases in India was seen enjoying the India vs Australia match with his son, Siddharth Mallya on Sunday. The conglomerate posted a picture with his son and congratulated the Indian team for their great victory against the Aussies. He tweeted as, “Great to watch cricket with my son and even sweeter to see India’s emphatic victory over Australia. Congratulations to @imVkohli and his team.”

Vijay Mallya told the reporters that he is there to watch the match and brushed off all the questions coming his way. He was quoted by ANI, “I am here to watch the game.” However, this is not the first instance that this Indian businessman is seen enjoying a game of cricket.

Mallya is reportedly accused of owing approximately Rs 9,000 crores to Indian banks and is facing charges related to money laundering, fraud and Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) violations.

However, the fans in the stadium were furious when he arrived at the stadium, chants of ‘Chor Hai’ paved his way. A few were also heard saying , ‘Apologise to the country, be a man’. The Indian spectators didn’t stop booing Mallya at The Oval.

India won the match against Australia by 36 runs with a spectacular innings by Indian opener, Shikhar Dhawan. The Men in Blue will play their next match against the Black Caps on Thursday, June 13, at Trent Bridge stadium.
