Virat Kohli received lot of love and respect for his gentleman-like gesture in the game against Australia, where this Indian skipper asked the crowd to cheer for Steve Smith instead of booing him. However, this English cricketer Nick Compton didn't approve of his behaviour and took to Twitter to criticize the Indian Captain. He posted a video on Twitter and captioned it saying, “I don’t think Virat Kohli had any right to tell fans to stop booing at Warner and Smith but rather clap them.. found it rather condescending if truth be told! @cricketworldcup #CricketWorldCup2019.”

Nick Compton has played 16 test matches for England and scored 775 runs with a batting average of 28.70.

The incident took place when the Indian crowd at The Oval were booing the Australian cricketer, Steve Smith whilst he was fielding near the boundary post his ball tampering scandal that took place last year. Virat Kohli decided to take the matter into his hands and asked the fans to start cheering for him instead. Later, Virat revealed that he felt bad for Smith and the also mentioned that what happened has happened. Several celebrities and fans acknowledged this gesture of Virat and praised him for his sportsman spirit. Virat and Smith have had issues in the past on the cricket field, but despite their on-field rivalry, it was refreshing to see these stalwarts support each other.
