India will take on New Zealand in what will be one of the most balanced contests in the ongoing Cricket World Cup 2019. Both teams are undefeated in the event thus far, with New Zealand winning three out of three, while India have won two previous games.

However, the Black Caps have played against Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Bangladesh - all relatively weaker teams. They will face their first stiff battle on Thursday, while India, on the other hand, have defeated teams like South Africa and Australia, and will be high on confidence.

Where the Indian team has fared well, though, has been the batting department. New Zealand's middle order was exposed against Bangladesh, and the openers - Martin Guptill and Colin Munro - have failed to get going after the first game against the Lankans. They might struggle against the spin duo of Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav in the middle overs, and with inexperienced batters down the order, India has the upper hand.

However, the game will not be an easy one, as the pace trio of Trent Boult, Matt Henry and Lockie Ferguson can spell doom. The conditions are likely to be overcast, and it is no secret that India struggles against the swinging balls. If Boult can find his form early, Team India, without Shikhar Dhawan, will be on the backfoot. The toss then, will be crucial, because if India bat first, the likes of Boult will rip their batting unit apart. Chasing after winning the toss will be the safest decision.

The match prediction, hence, comes down to the toss. If India bat first, they are likely to get all out and New Zealand might be in with a chance, but if the Kiwis bat first, India has bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar who can wreak havoc.
