ICC World Cup winning skipper and Australian legend Michael Clarke believes that India are well on course to win the first semi-final of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 against New Zealand. According to him, Virat Kohli and his men have been the team to beat in this tournament as they have won seven of their eight league games. Their only loss came against hosts England at Birmingham. New Zealand on the other hand are on a downward spiral after losing their final three group fixtures and managed to pip Pakistan by Net Run Rate (NRR) to qualify for the semis.

"No-brainer for me, India is in the final. In cricket you should never say that, if I was an Indian player I wouldn't be thinking like that or if I was Virat Kohli I wouldn't be thinking like that. But from outside, India is on fire they are playing unbelievable cricket at the moment and in my opinion they already have one foot in the final."

"New Zealand at the moment are really low on confidence because of their most recent performances. That is what is going to make the game so hard against India. India are flying high with confidence because of their most recent performances.

Michael Clarke also heaped praise on Rohit Sharma and believes that no bowler will be able to stop the Indian opener. He has amassed 647 runs and is currently the leading run-getter in the tournament.

He said," At the moment no one vs Rohit. He is in a different league, how do you get him out? He is a batting genius at the moment, he's been the batsman of the tournament. Him and David Warner have been the two standouts for me."

In the other semi-final Defending champions Australia will clash against Hosts England at Birmingham on Thursday.
