Mohammed Shami has been in an exceptional form in the on-going World Cup tournament and has played four games for the Indian team so far. In his four World Cup matches, he has claimed 14 wickets which included a hat-trick against Afghanistan in a close match of the tournament. However, it came as a shock to the fans of Indian cricket to see the exclusion of Mohammed Shami in the Semi-Finals match against the Black Caps. Mohammed Shami was included in the team post Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s injury in the tournament. However, Bhuvneshwar Kumar made his comeback against Sri Lanka and conceded 73 runs in his 10 over spell, making him the most expensive bowler from the Indian side. India has now included Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the playing 11 of the semi-finals, keeping Shami on hold. Shami who was rested in the clash against Sri Lanka, claimed only one wicket against Bangladesh with a high economy of 7.56. However, against the hosts, he was the leading wicket-taker and managed to claim a 5 wicket haul. He has also conceded more runs than other players in the death overs which might have played a role in his exclusion from the squad. However, Shami’s exclusion was a topic of discussion amongst the fans and Twitterati were baffled with this brave call from the Indian skipper. Let’s have a look at few of the tweets.
