After the abandonment of their match against New Zealand, the team would be disappointed to share the point with the Black Caps. However, skipper Virat Kohli believes that the rivalry between these two nations brings out the best in them as players. He also mentioned that it is a big honour to be a part of such a game; it’s been competitive over the years and is a marquee event all over the world.

India-Pakistan matches are often addressed with high intensity and are filled with emotions at both ends of the border. When asked about the atmosphere during this big clash, Virat said that its all calm and composed once you enter the field. It can look intimidating from the outside, but the team will look forward to it. Virat said that the team is looking forward to go out there and execute their game plan accordingly.

The team received a major blow when opener Shikhar Dhawan, who was in a phenomenal form in the tournament, had to be ruled out post his thumb injury. When asked about him, the Indian skipper said that Shikhar have a plaster for a couple of weeks. He also mentioned that hopefully he will be fit in the later-half of the tournament and the semi-finals. He said that the Indian opener is motivated and the team wants to keep him back.
