UPDATE:

According to Star News, KBS has confirmed that Mr. Queen's Na In Woo will be joining the drama for the role of the lead character, Ondal from Episode 9 onwards. As for Episode 7 and 8, KBS stated that they'll try their best to delete Ji Soo's scenes as much as they can, as to not affect the storyline. They will also be cancelling this week's broadcast.

Original:

The official news by KBS is out. According to Naver and News1, actor Ji Soo, who was playing the main role of Ondal in the hit series River Where The Moon Rises has been removed due to the school violence and sexual harassment charges against him. The production house is still in discussions about the replacement actor, the filming, and the past cuts that feature Ji Soo.

A source from the Cube Entertainment agency told News1 that Na In Woo, who played the lead role in tvN’s highly popular show, Mr. Queen has received proposals for the replacement role and the agency is still discussing the possibility of him playing Ondal. Another problem that has arisen is that KBS and the production house, Victory Contents, have suffered huge losses as the show has completed filming almost 90% of the content, till episode 18 (in a total of 20 episodes). Whether they choose to remove the cuts filmed by Ji Soo, edit it, or re-shoot it with a new actor - both the companies are going to face a huge blow on their costs.

River Where The Moon Rises has only released 6 episodes till today, ie. March 5 and Episode 7 is supposed to be out on March 8. However, viewers requested to stop broadcasting once the allegations against Ji Soo arose, according to Star News. KBS had decided to telecast reruns of the 5th and 6th episodes, but those reruns are also cancelled now.

It all started with a victim uploading a post on an online community with the title of ‘Actor Ji Soo is a school violence perpetrator’ on March 2. The former classmate opened up about the actor’s violent and bullying behaviour in school, which made him and many others suffer through traumatic experiences. While the actor’s agency released a statement of investigating the matter thoroughly, Ji Soo uploaded a handwritten apology letter on his official Instagram account on March 4, admitting the actions and apologizing to the fans.

I feel sorry for Kim So Hyun who will now have to go back and re shoot 10 episodes. Basically 30 instead of 20. Are they going to compensate her for all this extra work? Wi they pay her handsomely for it? Had she agreed to all thus extra labor at her expense?

I dont understand how you can just condem someone before any real evidence of anything has been confirmed, Im a mother of three boys and i dont condon bullying but we are talking about something that happened when he was in school. Why is it now after this man has been acting for many years that someone just came forward seems so wrong. Kids as they grow up can be cruel that is true yet for something like that to affect his future is wrong. Its awful what happened to the other party i dealt with it also in school but it doesnt define who i am or what i have done since i became an adult and raised my own kids. let it go and grow up . i pray that this doesnt result in a tragedy that seems to happen alot in korean society.

Deben poner a lee joon gi y seria un éxito como iba hacer si segia ji soo por que me encantaba pero lee joon gi seria súper buenooo

Asking forgiveness is good on JI Soo,'s part and hope the victim will heal. However, I would have rather see him continue his work. He is an amazing actor

Anonymous 2 months ago

Ondal is suppose to be fool and strong character, pretty boy face dosent seems fit though, huhu...

Anonymous 2 months ago

Thats so sad... let him continue..

Why wait 10 years to bring up incidents from childhood school. We all regret one time or another bad actions. The one that complain is he a saint that never did wrong? I doubt it. Hi Soo worked hard and was awarded. He’s changed his ways.

Having thoughts of watching this drama after all of the episodes end. But keeping it on my list because of the lead actress. And now that the lead actor is replaced and I like the new one, I will definitely watch it! ☺️

Great choice . I loved him in Mr. Queen.

You can never expect a high rating in the drama anymore even they changed the male lead coz' most people loses their interest because they were disappointed by Jisoo but they loved him and it hurts for them . .

How do we know if news in bulking is true. When you are young kids tend to provoke/bulking weak kids. Whose to say that the accuser was one of them. And why after soo many years to accuse this innocent actor. I don’t buy it. Koreans tend to be very vicious defaming well successful actors out of jealousy. The sad part is the public and his agency went along with this lies. So sad.

I think koreans are Very jealous of successful person.bullying cases come out after they become successful.

Anonymous 2 months ago

I agree totally I wish he would not have stepped down. Especially for something that he did a long time ago, and in his teens

Anonymous 2 months ago

Indeed...negative n malicious

Anonymous 2 months ago

That is true..and there is almost career over after one scandal.although sexual misconduct allegations are grave...but ji soo is a good actor!! Sad..we will never get to see him again

Anonymous 2 months ago

I think I finally found someone with the same perspective

Anonymous 2 months ago

R u stupid? Regardless of being successful or not he is still a child predator and needs to pay for his actions in jail. He’s only sorry cause he got caught

Anonymous 2 months ago

Why did accuser wait such a long time to vent? Similar to women accusing justice kavanaugh years after the supposed sexual assaults. Are there any time limits for such cases?

Anonymous 2 months ago

Exactly!!That's what I have been saying they hate people's success.

Anonymous 2 months ago

I loved his acting in Mr. Queen. I will definitely watch it if he is the lead role.

Anonymous 2 months ago

why balance this information from Korean series in English if we do not have sites to watch them in French subtitles?

Anonymous 2 months ago

Weirdly, I am actually happy that they are recasting and with the choice. I like Na in Woo alot and thought he was great in Mr. Queen.. Na In Woo Fighting!!!

Anonymous 2 months ago

I think the new actor will be better as I love his acting and I wanted to see him as a lead role !

Anonymous 2 months ago

Ji soo is sorry for what happened in the past.... We should not let go people's hand who make mistakes.... Rather we should help them improve.... Why to cast out the people who are struggling to stand out and improve their image ...

Lee Joon-gi best in Ondal's role....
