Even though cricket is termed to be the game full of uncertainties, the hosts emerge as clear favourites for the title right from the start of the tournament. However, with the defeat of the top two teams, India and Australia, in the tournament, it is likely to say that the team that handles the pressure well will emerge victorious in this clash. The last time that these two teams met in the group stage, the Black Caps faced a humiliating defeat by a huge margin of 119 runs. Let’s have a look at the top players from the hosts to watch out for.

1. Chris Woakes- This fast bowler proved to be the team’s greatest asset in the semi-finals against Australia. He restricted the explosive Australian batting and provided the team an early breakthrough by dismissing opener, David Warner to mere 9 runs. In his spell of 8 overs, Woakes claimed three crucial wickets with an economy as low as 2.50 and was named the Player of the Match for his brilliant spell. The hosts will rely majorly on this player in the big clash of the finals as far as their bowling is concerned.

2. Jason Roy- This opening batsman has been in an excellent form and has scored three consecutive fifties in the team’s previous three matches of the tournament. He smashed a brilliant 85 runs off only 65 deliveries with a strike rate of 130.77 in the semi-finals against Australia. The team will look forward to his contribution, which will provide the hosts a momentum in the beginning of their batting.
