A film that changed the face of romance in Bollywood released on this very day back in 2004 and was titled Veer Zaara. Starring Shah Rukh Khan, Preity Zinta and Rani Mukerji, Veer Zaara was directed by late filmmaker Yash Chopra and was an epic love saga whose melodies and story tug at everyone’s hearts. Shah Rukh as Veer, Preity as Zaara and Rani as Saamiya etched a special place in people’s hearts. For the first time, it was in Veer Zaara that Shah Rukh and Preity did makeup to look older.

As the film clocked in 15 years, Rani took a trip down memory lane and reminisced some sweet memories that hold a special place in her heart. Rani revealed that while shooting with Shah Rukh is always a delight, filing Veer Zaara wasn’t easy. The Mardaani 2 actress mentioned that seeing SRK as an older guy who would look at her as his daughter, was very tough. Rani stated that she was used to romancing Shah Rukh on screen and in Veer Zaara she had to be his lawyer and also daughter-life figure. This made it awkward to shoot with SRK.

Rani said, “The other thing I remember was seeing Shah Rukh in the old avatar which was really awkward for both of us. Before this, I had always romanced him and in this film, he had to look at me with the imagery of a daughter and I had to look at him as a father figure, which was a bit tough. Romancing Shah Rukh is much easier.” Rani also missed ‘Yash Uncle’ and mentioned that it was an amazing experience to shoot with him. Rani said, “Just to shoot with him was an experience by itself because when you shoot with a master like him you realise how great he is. His greatness was that he would never see the monitor!”

Even Preity shared a special post on Veer Zara’s 15th anniversary and mentioned that the film is extremely close to her heart. She praised Rani and Shah Rukh in her post and mentioned that there will never be another film like Veer Zaara. Preity also mentioned that she remains forever in Yash Chopra’s debt for giving her one of the most loved films. Veer Zaara’s music was composed by late Madan Mohan and still remains to be one of the most loved albums of all times.
