Kunal Kapoor's Veeram to premiere at the 1st BRICS Film Festival
Malayalam filmmaker Jayaraj's upcoming historical drama, Veeram, starring Kunal Kapoor in the lead will open the BRICS Film Festival on September 2. Veeram is an adaptation of legendary poet Shakespear’s classic Macbeth.
The five-day festival will screen films from Brazil, Russia, China and South Africa besides India. The closing film will be Chinese superstar Jackie Chan- starrer Skiptrace. China will host the next edition of the festival.
Kunal Kapoor sharing his experience said, "I'm very excited that we are premiering at the first BRICS Film Festival. We've put a lot of effort into making this film and I'm really looking forward to seeing how the audience reacts to it."
Talking about his film opening the festival, six times National Award winning director Jayaraj says, "I am happy and proud in presenting the first screening of my latest movie Veeram, an adaptation of Shakespeare's Macbeth especially in this quadricentennial of the great writer. The BRICS honour makes VEERAM proud of Shakespeare, Kalari, Kunal and the team members."
The film has been co-produced by Chandramohan Pillai and Pradeep Rajan of Chandrakala Arts. Veeram is being made in Malayalam, Hindi and English.
