Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's bold avatar in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil came as a surprise to everyone. The onscreen chemistry between Aishwarya and Ranbir Kapoor is magnetic.

We couldn't help but wonder what was Aishwarya's views on kissing and intimacy in movies. In an interview with a popular magazine, the actor revealed her opinion.

She said, "When Bride And Prejudice happened. It had a kiss in the script. But I said Gurinder (Chadha) we can avoid it because it isn’t crucial to your story. And you don’t miss it between Martin Henderson and me at all. During that phase, I also did Shabd. There wasn’t a kiss but there was intimacy shown by a female director (Leena Yadav). (Laughs) We filmed it in a way and joked that it could be my show reel to the West. I was okay with projecting intimacy without contact. Because I knew how much a kiss with me would be discussed. We came to Dhoom, 10 years into my career, by which point a kiss had become a familiar sight. So with the changing times, you consider what could be shocking or not with a sense of responsibility. A social and visual comfort comes with the changing times. You gauge that keeping your comfort space in mind. When I did the kiss in Dhoom, we decided to treat it in a scene. There’s a dialogue in the kiss. It’s not like there’s a crescendo music and just a kiss. Hrithik and I don’t run into each other’s arms."

Interesting, indeed!

But here it was not projected intimacy in ADHM. It was actual intimate scenes. She did those scenes well, but can't act nor deliver dialogue.

Times of India: In a smaller but significant role, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan floors you with her flawless beauty and command on language. Her character looks ethereal and you can’t pick between her face or her pristine Urdu.

Rajeev Masand: Sporting a straight-off-the-runway look Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, although saddled with clunky lines in the role of an Urdu poet, leaves a lasting impression in her limited screen time. In one particular scene, a teary confrontation, she conveys volumes with minimal lines.

Komal Nahta: Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is superb in a supporting role. She looks bewitching and her acting has a lot of style and sophistication.

Change the record Aish

Change ur attitude...hater

No one cares how much she bares in movies. It is her desperation to get one more movie that is making her do all this. Stop explaining. No one wants to know.

Old desperate and no talent.

Critics and filmmakers have applauded her talent many times. Google.

Many critics, filmmakers, and other actors said how she can't act. Google.

The Hindu (Suhasini Haidar): Anushka&Aishwarya emote all in close-up, & the best line is given to SRK.

I googled and couldn't find any respected filmmaker or actor saying she can't act..lol

Which acclaimed filmmakers and actors?? SLB, Mani Ratnam, Ashutosh Gowariker, Shyam Benegal, Rituparno Ghosh, Subhash Ghai have praised her talent.

Where have they said that? You have time to paste one line positive reviews about her "performance" in Adhm but where are her reviews for Jazba and Sarbjit?

Example: Shyam Benegal – “Kareena and Ash are the actresses, who have proved it that along with captivating looks, they are also capable of terrific portrayals. They have, in fact, emerged as very strong performers today. I would really like to work with them.’’

Aishwarya is a very thoughtful and intelligent actress. She may not be the best but she's actually really good. I think in her earlier years, Jeans, Taal, Iruvar, HDDCS, Devdas, Mohabbatein, Aa Ab Laut Chalein, Humara Dil Aapke Paas hai, Khakhee, Josh she knocked it out f the park. her acting where she was the young lovable energetic bubbly girl was really good. Even in Devdas I found her phenomenal but I would say her best character was HDDCS. If you compare even one frame of her acting to Katrina's you can see she's a much better actor. People obviously used to like the actors like Rani etc in those days but there's no reason to hate on Aishwarya's acting as much as people do now. As if the new lot (other than Alia) are any better than her!

Excuse me but her role in HDDCS was soo good because she was actually in love. so it didnt require much acting or chemistry? PV Please Publish

What is the relation between being in love and acting?

What is the relation in being in love and acting???

Desperate times call for desperate measures!

Just like ur comment.

And yours!

Personally I see nothing wrong with a kiss. Much depends on the script -is it integral to the story, how it's shot & how it's being promoted? The kiss in Raja Hindustani takes the movie forward & makes more sense than the silly love scene in Shabd. A kiss is also better than some of the very raunchy songs we get. As an actress maybe she is restricted by the bossy in laws though it's high time for a change in their attitude to a simple kiss.

WTH she talking about!?...:/

Yawn

Just keep up the good work Mrs. Rai-Bachchan!

she is smart for sure but not an actor

Ash is Intelligent & Sensible with loads of DIGNITY.....i do not understand some Stupid-Regressive comments above abt her getting married & not doing intimate scenes.......GROW UP guys, she is just Acting.....When Married Men can then Y not married women ??

it'sbecause aish goes around saying she doesn't kiss actors on screen and she doesn't do steamy scenes so people are just mad as she's the complete opposite and don't do what she says. She's the one who put others down by saying shes the best mother and the best bahu and so sanskari and blah blah

Aishwarya NEVER said that she is the best mother or best bahu and whatever blah blah..

She is a very intelligent woman...she will not let a director objectify her as woman...she knows what the film requires and will deliver that

She knows how to play with words. Just because things are changing that doesn't mean you have to change if you don't want to. She wanted to do these hot and steamy scenes/photoshoot and she did so why is she giving an explanation now. Why not accept what you have done other than putting the blame on others. If she didn't want to then she shouldn't have signed up for this movie. She sounds so desperate these days and praising all the hot guys and her on screen intimacy chemistry with them. It feels like she has no respect for abhi. If abhi had said, his daughter ran into someone else's arms thinking she's her mom then he would have gotten a new label by now

^^^ GET A LIFE! WITH TIME, PEOPLE DO CHANGE.

The most unlikable celeb in bollywood

naah thats peedu xxx padhu

Yet the one everyone is most obsessed about

She kissed Vivek in Kyun ho gaya na movie before Dhoom!!

No she didn't, it was a fake kiss, it was a kiss near to lips that was shot from a particular camera angle to make it look like a liplock. You can see these kind of "kisses" a lot in south films.

Aish you conveniently missed out the scene with Vivek Oberoi ( can't remember name of movie) Was that crucial to the story?? Only difference back then was you wasn't married. Now you are a wife, mother, daughter and Bahu surely more of a reason to avoid such scenes no? Bizarre.

She is so fake!!

She is right in saying that people change with changing times. What you thought about, about a particular thing a few years back can take a 180 degree turn, because perceptions change, perspectives change, views change and people change. So, an actress saying I would not do a certain scene at a certain point in time is relevant to THAT particular time and instance. The same theory may not apply after a few years since things DO change, people change, their taste changes and views change....very apt comment she has made.

Wow just wow, she is such a stunner

I hope you're being sarcastic

No she is a stunner no point denying the truth its just pure jealousy

Just how much did they photoshop her body in the Filmfare cover? It looks completely different in this pic. And she's done this 'controversial' role only because she wanted it to generate so much talk and it has. Job done. She has done this role for practically free because she's not getting any roles. She hopes that she'll get other roles because of this. Inside info. PV please post.

Yawn

She is very intelligent! One of the things I really admire in her. It's not just a beautiful surface and nothing beneath.

She's the best

ok
