The Ranveer Singh starrer film '83 is one of the most anticipated films which was in the buzz right since its inception. The film is helmed by director Kabir Khan and boasts of a stellar cast. The film which has Ranveer Singh play the titular role of the former Indian Cricket Team skipper Kapil Dev will depict the historic win of Team India at the 1983 World Cup. The film will have actor Dhairya Karwa, who was last seen in the Vicky Kaushal starrer URI: The Surgical Strike, will essay the role of cricketer Ravi Shastri.

The entire team of the film is currently training in Dharamshala, but it will be interesting to know that Dhairya has still not met the cricketer but is very elated to essay his part of the film nevertheless. According to a report in Bombay Times, Dhairya revealed, “I really want to meet him (Ravi Shastri), because I keep hearing amazing stories about him. He has been a part of my cricket experience of the 90s and early 2000’s. So, when I landed the part, I thought that I should read up everything about Ravi sir. I’ve been watching all his interviews and videos to get his body language right. I’ve also been playing cricket for five months now, and the focus is to pick up his style. It’s challenging because I am a natural right-arm, and he was a left-arm bowler. I’m also working on my diction and his style of speaking.”

Ravi Shastri is the current coach of the Indian Cricket team and is quite popular for his effortless observation and commentary skills. Dhairya also revealed if he is facing any pressure to essay the role of the legendary cricketer. Dhairya further stated, “It’s a huge responsibility and a privilege. He’s been omnipresent in the game across generations in different roles. So, I do have big shoes to fill, but I don’t feel pressurised. I auditioned and got selected for the part. I went through a mock interview where I was talking about my career as Ravi Shastri, in his style. I was asked my views on him and I was also tested on my cricket skills. So, while I did pass the litmus test, I feel it’s a huge responsibility to play him.”
