One of the most iconic shows where people who had gone through a traumatic experience in their life got to meet and talk about it to Aamir Khan was Satyamev Jayate. Aamir Khan was the host of the show which used to air on Star Plus. On the show, many people from all over the country got a chance to share their stories on the national television. However, listening to their heartbreaking tales affected Aamir very deeply. It took an emotional toll on the superstar to such an extent that he had to seek medical help.

At a recent event, Aamir talked about the same and shared that Satyamev Jayate’s first season affected him very deeply. Every time a new story was told by someone who had gone through a tough experience, Aamir mentioned that he took it to his heart. He even revealed that the stories of people affected him so much that he stopped going out completely. He even mentioned that he used to breakdown without any reason due to all the stories he had heard and felt on the show.

Aamir said, “I was an emotional wreck. I also got some help from a doctor. It was just very... (tough) because I am not trained to listen to the emotional issues of people and keep a distance. I am not able to do that. Going through that entire journey of the first season was very traumatic for me. To the extent, I had become emotionally very brittle, I was in very bad shape. At the end of the one year, I could not go out. For absolutely no reason at all, I would just break down.” He even said that it hurt him too much as he used to imagine himself in other people’s shoes.

Aamir revealed that once a person who had lost his son as he was beaten to death in a road rage came on the show and when he heard his heart-wrenching tale, he only thought about his son Junaid. He expressed that he feared for his son’s safety and questioned himself about his reaction if it was his son Junaid in place of any other victim of road rage. He also said that for the first time, he realised that he was living an enriched life and didn’t have to face all this. He expressed that doing Satyamev Jayate season 1 was a traumatic yet learning experience for him and it helped him to grow.

On the professional front, Aamir Khan produced a short film Rubaru Roshni which was released on TV instead of theatres. It also was a story of people who have seen loss and learnt to forgive over time. Also, he was seen in Thugs of Hindostan along with Amitabh Bachchan, Katrina Kaif and Fatima Sana Shaikh. The movie didn’t work at the box office.
