Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao starrer Stree's producers have got into a battle over money. As earlier we had reported that Dinesh Vijan and Raj Nidimoru and Krishna D.K. (Raj-DK) were 50-50 partners under their respective banners Maddock Films and D2R Films. According to media reports, Raj-DK had singed a contract with Dinesh Vijan of sharing 50-50 profits but reports have it that about Rs 20 crore are due to Raj & DK. The two haven't received a single rupee yet from Dinesh. A source close to Raj & DK had revealed to us that how they were already underway with producing the film when Dinesh contacted them and convinced them to let him be a part of the project.

Now, a source close to Dinesh Vijan mentioned, "Raj, DK and Maddock (Vijan's company) were supposed to make this film with a studio, but the studio backed out as they didn’t have confidence in Raj-DK’s track record. It was Vijan brought all the actors on board. Before approaching Vijan, Raj-DK had approached the same male actors who eventually made it into the film but they had refused. Raj-DK were supposed to financially contribute in the making which they did not, they also did not execute the film fully."

Source further adds, "Vijan hadn't had a great experience with the duo in Go Goa Gone (overbudget) and Happy Ending (losing proposition) but still went ahead with them. The duo then tried to sideline the dialogue writer and didn't want him to get credits. They tried the same with the director (Amar Kaushik) but Vijan stood by Amar which is why he is doing another film with Maddock (Bala, starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Bhumi Pednekar). Raj-DK have defaulted on the contract and even their own agency (Madhu Mantena) feels that they are being unreasonable. They were also busy shooting for an Amazon show and couldn't give Stree enough time."

Stree is one of the hit films of the year. The horror-comedy not only earned positive reviews from the audience but also went on to mint good numbers at the box office. This Amar Kaushik directorial reached Rs 50 crore mark at the box office, which is quite huge for a small-budget film.

Now, it remains to see if the fight takes a legal turn in the due course. What do you have to say? Let us know in the comments section below.
