The illustrious cast of Mission Mangal came together today to launch the trailer of the most-anticipated film. In attendance were Vidya Balan, Sonakshi Sinha, Taapsee Pannu, Nithya Menen, Kirti Kulhari and Akshay Kumar. 3 Idiots star Sharman Joshi was also present at the trailer launch. At the trailer launch, the stars spoke at length about the film and their experiences. One such revelation was by actor Akshay Kumar who spoke about his film 2.0 and compared it to Mission Mangal.

According to a report in Indian Express, Akshay said at the launch, "We didn’t have that much knowledge about Mars Orbiter Mission before we started working on the film. But slowly we came to know a lot, and it is because of Jagan (director Jagan Shakti). Mangalyaan cost only Rs 450 crore while NASA spent more than Rs 6000 crore for American Maven orbiter. My film 2.0 had a budget of 500 crore and this was less than that, so we are so proud."

Based on India’s Mars Mission of 2014, Mission Mangal tells the story of scientists at Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) who contributed to the Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM), which marked India’s first interplanetary expedition. The almost 3-minute trailer gives a glimpse into the workings of India's most ambitious mission. It also showcases team spirit with heavy doses of patriotism that the film has to offer.

Mission Mangal will clash with John Abraham's Batla House on August 15.
