Akshay Kumar‎ and ‎Amitabh Bachchan‎ starrer Waqt: The Race Against Time (2005) was loved for its endearing portrayal of the father-son relationship. Priyanka Chopra, Shefali Shah also played pivotal roles in the family drama. Recently, in an interview, Akshay Kumar disclosed that his father was diagnosed with Cancer while he was shooting for Waqt. Amitabh Bachchan who plays the role of Akshay's father in the film too suffers from cancer and so he further explained that it was a very hard film for him. 
 
Akshay Kumar, who is known for his action packed roles, was widely appreciated for his performance in this family drama. While speaking in a chat show, Akshay explained how difficult it was for him emotionally to do some of the scenes. He said that the film will always be close to his heart and had a special connection with the film. Hari Om Bhatia, Akshay's father was suffering from cancer as well in reality. He further added, "There were so many times when the scene was over but I couldn’t stop my emotions. Which is why this film will always be in my memory".

Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar is busy with the promotions of his new film 'Kesari' which will release on March 21. It is being produced by Dharma Productions and is directed by Anurag Singh and also stars Parineeti Chopra in a vital role. 'Kesari' is period drama based on the Battle of Saragrahi where 21 Sikh soldiers fought against 10,000 Afghan invaders in 1897.
