While Padman did supremely well at the box office in India, it’s quite not the same in China as it received an underwhelming response from the audience there.

With Indian Bollywood movies being applauded and receiving a thunderous reception in China, many Indian producers have started to take note of the audience abroad and release their films in China. For example, when Dangal was released in China, the movie ended up being a bigger hit among the Chinese audience than the Indian one. In fact, Aamir Khan’s movies like 3 Idiots and PK have managed to break box office records in the Asian country as well.

However, this hasn’t turned out to be the same for all Indian films. The recently released Indian film for the Chinese market was Padman which hit the theatres last Friday. While the R Balki directorial did supremely well at the box office in India, by raking in almost Rs 120 crore, it’s quite not the same in China as it received an underwhelming response from the audience there.

According to Box Office India, Day 1 started slowly while the second day registered a slight growth. But the third day didn't see much change in the figures with collections only at Rs 37.49 crore. Turns out the movie hasn’t quite impressed the Chinese audience. In fact, Padman’s opening day figures turned out to be much lesser than another Akshay Kumar starrer Toilet Ek Prem Katha.

The Akshay Kumar, Sonam Kapoor, Radhika Apte starrer deals with the issue of menstrual hygiene and is a real-life story of Arunachalam Muruganantham, who frustrated by his wife's problem during her periods, decides to come up with a sanitary pad that is affordable for poor women.
