Alia Bhatt: Sridevi’s passing away was devastating for me; she was always so warm and lovely

In a recent interview, Alia Bhatt said that she was devastated like everyone else when the news of Sridevi's passing away broke.

Celebrated actor Sridevi passed away on February 24, 2018. She accidentally drowned in her hotel bath tub.Her fans and family were shocked and saddened with her untimely demise. Sridevi had gone to the UAE to attend the wedding ceremony of Mohit Marwah and Antara Motiwala. Film fraternity and her fans thronged her residence in Mumbai to pay their final respects. Sridevi was given a state funeral and B-Town celebrities had attended the condolence meet that was held by the Kapoor family in Mumbai.

Alia Bhatt in an interview to Filmfare magazine talked about Sridevi’s unfortunate demise and said, “Her passing away was devastating for me, like it was for everyone. I was in a restaurant when I heard the news. After that I just couldn’t eat. I broke down and couldn’t stop crying.” Sridevi was an admirer of Alia’s work and on many occasions had praised her performances. Alia said, “What an impact she had on people! She was always so warm and lovely. kind of turnout on the streets during her last rites... she went like a goddess! That was heart-warming.

Alia Bhatt will be working with Sridevi and Boney Kapoor’s daughter Janhvi, who made her Bollywood debut recently with Dhadak. Janhvi and Alia will work together in Karan Johar’s next directorial venture, Takht. The film will go on floors next September and also stars Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Anil Kapoor, Vicky Kaushal and Bhumi Pednekar.
