Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie has recently urged Myanmar to end it's continuous violence as well as displacement drive in the state of Rakhine due to which thousands of Rohingya Muslims have started to flee from the country to the neighbouring country Bangladesh for their safety. Jolie, who happens to be a special envoy of the United Nations Human Rights Agency, has made the comments on Tuesday post her visit to the sprawling camps in Bangladesh where there is currently a population of around 1 million Rohingya Muslim refugees. Due to an attack made on a security post by some Rohingya insurgent group, the Myanmar Army has led a violent crackdown againts the Rohingyas since August 2017 which has forced them to flee the country.

Jolie is on a visit for three days before which she has also launched a global appeal for funds in order to support the needs of the refugees. She has gone to Bangladesh as a part of her duty as the special envoy to the United Nations refugee agency. She has also spent time at a hospital and a school and is also set to meet the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina and the Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen. This happens to be the first ever visit of Jolie to Bangladesh. Previously, the Maleficent star went to meet the Rohingya refugees in India in the year 2006 and in Myanmar in the year 2015.




Angelia Jolie is a popular Hollywood actress who is well known for her acting performances in films like Salt, Maleficent, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, Wanted and many others. Her 2014 fantasy film Maleficent happens to be her biggest commercial success in Hollywood. Jolie has also produced and directed many films like Unbroken, By The Sea, First They Killed My Father, etc.
