One of the much awaited political dramas of 2019 is the Anupam Kher and Akshaye Khanna starrer, The Accidental Prime Minister. The film has become a major point of controversy. In the film, Anupam Kher is playing the role of Dr Manmohan Singh, former Prime Minister of India while Akshaye Khanna will be seen as the media advisor-cum-book writer, Sanjaya Baru. Even the trailer went missing from YouTube. There are there are many who have called The Accidental Prime Minister a propaganda film considering it is releasing months before elections.

Reacting on this, Anupam Kher told Times Now, “People have the right to say whatever they want to say. You see, that is the best part of social media that everybody has an opinion and everybody should have an opinion. My point is that let's see the film and then discover. At least, the people with me know where I stand. But, there are millions of others who don't. Everybody who votes behind that hidden place has a political party in his or her mind.  I don't have a political party in my mind, of course, my wife is BJP, she's fought in the election. And of course, I admire Mr Narendra Modi. And that's why it becomes easy for people to sort of say that "Oh...(The Accidental Prime Minister is a propaganda film)".

He further added that about BJP tweeted the trailer from their official Twitter account. “I think it was a masterstroke by the political party. And nobody stops anybody from doing that.  Ya, it's all marketing. Actors do that today. We have paparazzi and we tell them, "Hum us restaurant mein jaa rahe hain, baahar aa jaana". Then we pretend jaate samay, "Oh, Oh my god Papparazi aa gayi yahaan par?" Har ek ka PR jaake bolta hai, wahaan jaake photo le lena. At the airport they'll be going then we pretend to get down, how casual my posture was. It's idiotic to sort of pretend that we are not. Of course, that's important, that's marketing. Everybody...(is doing) so we should do that,” said Kher.

The movie is slated to release on January 11, 2019.  Are you looking forward to watching this film? Tell us in the comments below!
