Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, who often takes to social media to speak his mind on a range of things, announced his decision to quit the micro-blogging site Twitter for good on Saturday. The 'Sacred Games' director has time and again been vocal about various moves made by the current government and more often than not criticised it. Naturally, the filmmaker has been subject to a barrage of backlash by netizens and ardent fans of the BJP government. Not just that, most recently his daughter Aaliya Kashyap was also threatened.

Citing the same, Anurag Kashyap announced he is quitting Twitter and wrote, "When your parents start to get calls and your daughter gets online threats then you know no one wants to talk. There is going to be no reason or rationale. Thugs will rule and thuggery will be the new way of life. Congratulations everyone on this new India and hope you thrive."

His another tweet read, "Wish you all the happiness and success. This would be my last tweet as i leave Twitter. When I won't be allowed to speak my mind without fear, I would rather not speak at all." Anurag's Twitter page is now non-existent but we did get our hands on his last tweets. Take a look:

This is not the first time that the director has spoken about receiving threats on social media. Just last month, he had tweeted to congratulate PM Modi on his victory in the General Elections 2019 and informed him that he had received a threat targeting his daughter.
