India registered an emphatic victory on Sunday at The Oval in London against Australia. In a thrilling match yesterday, India beat Australia by 36 runs to win their second match at the 2019 ICC World cup tournament. A sea of Indian fans had turned up at the stadium to witness and cheer team India. However, during the first innings of the match a section of the audience began chanting 'cheater' while Smith was fielding. Steve Smith, who was involved in a ball-tampering episode last year, had to witness these unpleasant chants.

It was then that skipper Virat Kohli's heartfelt gesture of stopping Indian fans at The Oval from booing Australia’s Steve Smith that won hearts. The captain requested fans to stop the unpleasant chants and clap instead. Well, Virat's gesture did not go unnoticed and many appreciated the often labelled aggressive player for asking fans to clap and cheer.

One of them was his wife Anushka Sharma who shared a news snippet on her Instagram story and wrote, "Agressive player, benevolent man - so easy to love." Meanwhile, actor Ayushmann Khurrana tweeted, "A true icon. Well done captain! #INDvAUS #WorldCup2019." Check out their posts below:

When asked in a post-match press conference, Virat revealed that he felt bad for Steve Smith. "Just because there are so many Indian fans here, I don't want them to set a bad example. He didn't do anything to be booed in my opinion. I felt for him and told him sorry on  behalf of the crowd. In my opinion that's not acceptable," said Virat Kohli.

She literally copied and reworded the Australian commentators comment!! Fake man

I still can't figure out why he married the official duck of bollywood. Unbelievable

Pinkvilla, you got the title or the content wrong... Anushka Sharma or Ayushman Khurrana??

Well done captain...we are so proud of you.... Anushka virat # perfect couple...lots of love and good wishes for your happiness

what a weird instastory

Right? She's such an attention whore.

Anu remembers she's nothing without Kohli, cue fake PDA.

Virat is so aggressive and in the moment on the field but a perfect gentleman off it..the best batsman across all formats currently and yet such sportsmanship..he has grown and is now a role model for his passion and intensity..King Kohli

Anushka is so good for him...he knows he can’t get away with bad behaviour with her...the aggression works both ways, yet she calms him and keeps him focused on the right side...Brand Virushka works on aggression and FairPlay and it should stay that way...his growth is for all to see..Anushka is the youngest producer in BW at 25, that too an outsider and her dad is a Kargil Hero..and now she’s married to the #1 batsman in the world...power couple in truest sense!!!

Jesus Christ.

Best character arc for Kohli...how he has matured...from pure aggression to absolute gentleman..he is the best player currently and how much Anushka has helped in his personal growth and maturity is clearly seen...wonderful couple...god bless them!

Character arc refers to fiction. You clearly have no sense of reality.
