Anushka Sharma, Sonam Kapoor report cruelty against dog who was thrashed by 2 Mumbai guards; call for action

As per reports, the stray dog had entered an upscale Worli society to take shelter from the non-stop rains in Mumbai on 24 July and was beaten up mercilessly by the building's watchmen.

Bollywood stars Anushka Sharma and Sonam Kapoor have come together to voice their anger against animal cruelty after videos of a stray dog being tortured in Mumbai's Worli were widely shared on social media and reported in local news. As per reports, the stray dog had entered an upscale Worli society to take shelter from the non-stop rains in the city on 24 July. However, things took a turn for the worse when the society's two security guards thrashed the dog with sticks sending the dog into a comatose state, reported Mumbai Mirror

CCTV footage and recorded phone videos captured the heartbreaking incident by the watchmen who alleged that they beat up the dogs on behest of the residents of the society. Sonam Kapoor condemned the incident and called out for help in her Instagram post. Anushka, too, who is an animal-lover said that the 'inhumanity of this act was just unbelievable'. The actresses urged people to stand up for justice. 

Anushka wrote, "The inhumanity of this act is just unbelievable. This is the time for our community to step up and find a way to help get justice to a soul that can’t stand up for himself. Sonam also shared pictures of the poor dog's condition and wrote, "Please help! An FIR has been registered with the Worli Police Station by Bombay Animal Rights on 27/7/19 as Nishank had stopped responding to all our calls All videos & evidence available & provided to the police We need help for this Pup from our animal welfare community BOMBAY ANIMAL RIGHTS 9920388000." 

A FIR has been registered against the attackers and citizens have also planned a protest.
