Asha Parekh OPENS UP on her love for director Nasir Hussain: I loved him but could never break up his family

77-year-old legendary actor, Asha Parekh has dominated the silver screen through the 70s and till date, continues to be everyone’s favorite actress. From Kati Patang, Teesri Manzil, Dil Deke Dekho to Ghunghat, Chhaya and Meri Surat Teri Ankhen, among others, Asha Parekh’s filmography is proof of her versatility and love for cinema. Now we all know that Asha Parekh has lived single all her life and by self admission, she says that she is very happy being single. 

In her autobiography The Hit Girl, Asha Parekh, who has been a force to reckon with all her life and one of the highest-paid actresses of her time, talked about how she was in love with director Nasir Hussain but since he was a married man, Asha ji chose to stat alone and not be a homewrecker. Speaking to the magazine, Asha said, “As much as I loved him (Nasir Hussain), I could never consider breaking up his family and traumatising his children. It was far simpler and satisfying to be on my own.”

During her tough and trying time, this Kati Patang actress said that it was her friends who stood by her thought thick and thin and allowed her to hold onto her sanity. “My friends are why I’ve managed to hold on to my sanity and fight bouts of depression. Shammiji (Nargis Rabadi) was always with me before she passed away last year.” Asha Parekh and Nasir worked together in Dil Deke Dekho and during the last year of his life, she did not see Nasir Hussain because he had becoe a reclusive post his wife’s death.
