It's been seven years since Chris Evans was introduced as Steve Rogers in Captain America: The First Avenger (2011). Who would have thought that we would already be saying goodbye to the beloved American superhero in Avengers: Endgame? Chris shared a heartfelt note on Twitter recently after his last day of shooting for Avengers 4. The actor had tweeted, "Officially wrapped on Avengers 4. It was an emotional day to say the least. Playing this role over the last 8 years has been an honor."

"To everyone in front of the camera, behind the camera, and in the audience, thank you for the memories! Eternally grateful," Chris added. While some are of the belief that Captain America might sacrifice himself to undo Thanos' snap of fingers as seen in Infinity War, which was responsible for half the universe turning into dust, an alternative theory suggests a more happy ending for Steve Rogers. According to the theory which supports the time travel solution, Steve will end up in 1945 and actually make it to his date with Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell). And instead, he stays and hangs up his shield looking towards a life worth living and not sacrificing himself as we saw in Captain America: The First Avenger. It would be a fitting ending for Steve, who gave his all for his country.

"My primary evidence/inspiration for this comes from that Age of Ultron weird vision thing with him. While I'm not too sure that those visions are overtly relevant to the MCU as a large, I think it's telling that Cap went back to that moment, and the date he never had. Even many years later, it still means so much to him. End of Captain America: The First Avenger, also had the line about missing the date. And he's got his old look back in Endgame! So that's something," the theory added.

Do you think Captain America will get his dance with Peggy Carter? Let us know your views on the theory in the comments section below.

Meanwhile, Avengers: Endgame hits the theatres on April 26, 2019.
