Ayushmann Khurrana’s upcoming release Bala has been making headlines for several reasons these days. Not just it got mired in controversy over its clash with Sunny Singh starrer Ujda Chaman but it also left the audience intrigued over its subject. The movie deals with premature balding and with society’s obsession with fair colour. Interestingly, the movie got into another controversy after its female lead Bhumi Pednekar was trolled for her look in the movie. To note, Bhumi plays the role of a dark-skinned girl in Bala and she received a lot of flak for the same.

However, her co-star from the film Yami Gautam came to her rescue and shut down the trolls with an epic reply. In fact, she slammed the trolls over their unfair judgment based on the posters and trailer of Bala. The Uri: The Surgical Strike actress even put an end to the trolls and said, people have a tendency to women, especially actresses, for their looks and even for the kind of cinema they do.

"I feel actresses are judged harshly vis-a-vis actors for their film choices. Also, people judging on the basis of just the poster and trailer is unfair. They aren't seeing the narrative but isolating one look from the milieu it's attached to," Yami added.

Explaining her point further, Yami stated that she along with Ayushmann and Bhumi are independent artistes who don’t mind going to any lengths to do justice to a character or a movie if the script demands. In fact, they had full faith in the script and invested in it with their respective performances with the sole goal of making a good film.

Yami also asserted that there is a reason that Bhumi had sported a particular in the movie as Bala is all about loving oneself. She concluded saying, “We were all sold at Amar Kaushik’s vision and it’s necessary that people watch the film people first.” Bala is slated to release on November 7, 2019.
