Bollywood has seen several outsiders making a mark in the industry and one such actor who became an overnight sensation during the 90s’ was Divya Bharti. The late actress was born on February 25, 1974, to Om Prakash Bharti and Meeta Bharti. Today marks the 47th birth anniversary of the late actress. Divya had acted in 20 films within a short period, which is still an unbroken record by any debutante to date. When she was just a teenager, she made her acting debut in a Telegu film Bobbili Raju (1990), opposite Venkatesh. It was an instant hit.

Later, the young actor went on to work with top Telugu actors like Chiranjeevi, Mohan Babu, and Nandamuri Balakrishna. Eventually, Divya delivered more hits like Rowdy Alludu and Assembly Rowdy among others. And when she was celebrating her success in the South film industry, several top Bollywood directors were eagerly waiting for Divya to sign a few films. In 1992, the actress made her Bollywood debut with Rajiv Rai's 1992 film Vishwatma alongside Sunny Deol. The song Saat Samundar from the film featuring Bharti became one of the best tracks of the year. People still remember the song for Divya.

In March 1992, Divya starred in David Dhawan's romantic action drama Shola Aur Shabnam and it was a box office hit in India. However, Divya achieved more success with Raj Kanwar's award-winning love story Deewana, which starred late actor Rishi Kapoor and Shahrukh Khan. It was one of the biggest hits of 1992. Divya’s performance in the film was highly appreciated by the critics, as she broke the character stereotypes. That year, she won the Filmfare Award for Lux New Face of the Year and the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut.

On May 10, 1992, Divya tied the knot with director-producer Sajid Nadiadwala at a private ceremony in the presence of their close friends. The duo met through Govinda while working on the set of Shola Aur Shabnam. After her marriage, she converted to Islam and changed her name to Sana Nadiadwala.

But unfortunately, the world lost a great talent way ahead of time as the actress passed away on April 5, 1993, by falling off from the balcony of her fifth-floor apartment in Versova, Mumbai. She was rushed to the Cooper Hospital but was declared dead. Bharti was just 19-years-old when she passed away. Her untimely death shook the entire nation. And to date, her death remains a mystery.
