In today's generation, if we can look at anyone, who could do justice to Julie Andrew's masterful act as Mary Poppins in the recreated modern version, Mary Poppins returns; it's Emily Blunt. As the new Mary Poppins, Emily has seemingly not only endeared the modern version to the nostalgic fans but also to the new generation, if the reviews and award nominations are anything to go by. Emily has earned a deserved Golden Globe nomination for the film in the Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy category.

Talking about the authenticity of shooting for Mary Poppins Returns, Emily gushed, "This was a completely, practically done, big Hollywood movie – such a throwback to those old movies where you don’t have a lot of CGI. I think we barely had any green screen other than the animation sequences. And people are on wires, we are floating around on wires, and everything from the parrot umbrella that speaks was an animatronic actual umbrella that is not CGI’d….that is an actual parrot that is speaking that someone made with their hands. Every set was so beautifully crafted and real and transporting, and I think it just grounded everybody, you know. We all discovered the magic in it."

While talking about how her movie could not have come at a better time given the recent pessimistic attitude of humanity as a whole, Emily revealed that her husband and Jack Ryan star John Krasinkski called Mary Poppins Returns as a joy bomb. "Someone else just said to me that Mary Poppins, when it first came out, was the great unifier of the time, and I think in many ways that’s probably what we need right now. We are in a fragile time. It’s a disconcerting time, and I think this is a film that’s completely uncynical and as my husband calls it, it’s like a joy bomb. It’s just so moving, you know, and I don’t think there’s anything else like it out there, and I think people don’t even realize how much they might need an experience like this," Blunt shared.
