Naseeruddin Shah has been in the news off lately, post his statement about the mob violence prevalent in the country, and how he fears for his children when he imagines of a situation where they might be questioned by a mob whether he is Muslim or Hindu. This statement came out post a policeman was killed in mob violence in Bulandshahr district where cow carcasses were found earlier. Following this, Anupam Kher also issued a statement, the latest of which spoke about how there is so much freedom in the country where one can abuse the army, badmouth the air chief and pelt stones at the soldiers.

Now, Naseeruddin has also released a video expressing his concern over how there are walls of hatred that have been erected in the country in the name of religion and also talked about Freedom of expression. When Emraan Hashmi was questioned about the same and asked about his opinion on Naseeruddin Shah's statement, he told ANI in an interview how he does feel there is freedom after all but also stated that he is unaware of the controversy. He said, "I am able to express what I am thinking right now. I think there is freedom of speech in our country, I am a bit ignorant of the controversy. So, it will be a bit irresponsible of me to speak on that."

Quite bold of Emraan - loved it. It isnt easy to go against the left wing being in bollywood.

Mr shah give specific events happening, if there is freedom of speech, then why everyone needs to comment on what he said, instead to prove that it is reality!,
