Farhan Akhtar is currently busy training hard for his upcoming film, titled Toofan. The film, bankrolled by Akhtar, Riteish Sidhwani and Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, is said to be a heartfelt story of a boxer. Other than Toofan, Farhan is also gearing up for Shonali Bose's directorial, The Sky Is Pink, which also stars Priyanka Chopra and Zaira Wasim. Slated to release on 11 October, the film is based on the life of motivational speaker Aisha Chaudhary who was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis.

The last film that Farhan Akhtar and Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra collaborated for was the superhit Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. It was a turning point in the actor’s career and became one of the biggest and most special films of his life. The biographical sports drama is based on the life of Milkha Singh, an Indian athlete who was a national champion runner and an Olympian. The film, which also stars Sonam Kapoor, Divya Dutta, Meesha Shafi, Pavan Malhotra and Art Malik in supporting roles, was declared a "super hit" domestically and hit overseas.

Celebrating 6 years of Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, Farhan took to his social media handle to pen down a heartfelt post. Along with a poster of the film, the actor wrote the caption: “6 years since #bhaagmilkhabhaag came along and changed my life.. heart is filled with gratitude for all the love you have shown and continue to show our film. Big big hug.”

Sonam Kapoor had also shared a short clip on her Instagram account celebrating the occasion:
