Saif Ali Khan has given some memorable performances in films like Race, Dil Chahta Hai, Omkara and others. He is at an all-time high in his career and is also happily married to Kareena Kapoor. However, the actor has turned down some iconic roles over the course of his career. Talking about those roles, in an interview, Saif said that he does not have any regrets in turning down the role of Chunnilal in Devdas; however, he feels like an idiot by turning down Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.

Saif lost the role of Chunnilal in Devdas when director Sanjay Leela Bhansali approached him which also had Shah Rukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Madhuri Dixit in the lead roles when there were problems on the financial side. Saif thought that he would be a miscast as Chunnilal. He further added, "I don't think the role suited Moitilal either in Bimal Roy's Devdas. But at least Motilal and Chunnilal rhyme. I have only one regret and that's Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, which I rejected. Seriously, I must have been a nut case then”.

Saif’s essayed the role of Sameer in Farhan Akhtar's Dil Chahta Hai and made every girl crush on him. The Nawab revealed in the same interview that he had almost turned down that role too because of his limited screen time in the second half of the film. However, his co-star Dimple Kapadia insisted him to not focus on the quantity but quality of the role and ended up doing the film. Later on, the film went on to become a blockbuster hit in which, he had delivered some iconic scenes which are still cherished.
