Akshay Kumar's Gold explores the themes of patriotism, team spirit, unity and sportsmanship. The film traces the golden era of Indian hockey through the journey of Tapan Das, a young assistant manager in 1936, who dreams of playing for an independent nation. Starring Akshay, Mouni Roy, Kunal Kapoor, Amit Sadh, Vineet Singh, Sunny Kaushal and Nikita Dutta, Gold, directed by Reema Kagti releases in theatres on August 15, 2018

Yes, people loved the trailer and appreciated all who have put their best foot forward. Now, just before the release, we tell all you the about a real-life hero that got us the Gold medal. Do you even know who exactly got the Gold back in the Olympics of 1948? He was one of the greatest Hockey players - Kishan Lal - he was an Indian hockey player and the captain of the Indian hockey team for the Olympics of 1948. 
 

If you have seen the trailer, Akshay Kumar has mentioned the very same match - The MATCH after we got the independence - Free India. 

Who is Kishan Lal? 

1. Kishan Lal played a pivotal role in the victory of the Indian team at the 1948 Olympics. The Indian Hockey team defeated Britain by a score of 4-0. 
 
2. As a child, Kishan Lal had a fascination with Polo and that got him to play Hockey. 

3. He started playing at the age of 14 and well, he also played with great Dhyan Chand for Jhansi Heroes. 

4. The journey had just begun for the Hockey star. He was soon selected for the prestigious  Bhagwant Club of Tikamgarh. 

5. In 1947, he was chosen as the second command to Dhyan Chand and he played for the Indian national team in a tour of East Africa. 

6. He was, then, appointed as the captain of 1948 Hockey team and then he registered the history. 

7. After getting Indian many hits and badges for 28 years, he became the chief coach under the Railway Sports Control Board. 

8. He was addressed as the 'dada' of Hockey in India. 

9. He was honoured with a Padma Shri in 1966 by the then president Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.

10. He bid the final goodbye on 22nd June 1980.

Kishan Lal is an inspiration for all.
