Gully Boy is Zoya Akhtar's next directorial after the family comedy-drama Dil Dhadakne Do. The filmmaker will be collaborating with Ranveer Singh yet again and the actor will be paired opposite Alia Bhatt for the first time.

For the uninitiated, Gully Boy is inspired by the lives of Mumbai street rappers Divine and Naezy and Ranveer will be seen as a rapper, himself.

Now, in recent developments, joining the cast will be the versatile actress Kalki Koechlin, according to a leading tabloid. The actress has worked with Zoya before in the coming-of-age travel movie Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. The star-studded cast included Hrithik Roshan, Farhan Akhtar, Katrina Kaif and Abhay Deol opposite whom Kalki was paired.

The tabloid further informed that Kalki will be playing a rapper in the movie just like Ranveer.

Ranveer has also started recording songs for the movie and is snapped on several occasions, outside a music studio as he works with popular rappers. Ranveer has also shared pictures on his social media as he is all geared up for the anticipated movie.

Gully Boy is all set to go on floors next week and will be shot across Mumbai including the slum areas of Dharavi. The release date for Gully Boy is yet to be announced.

Well, now I’m interested after Kalki’s addition. Finally! Fresh casting! If they’d cast Shraddha, Sonam, Athiya, etc. I’d have lost it.

This movie just got better. Kalki has more talent in her pinky than Alia has in whole body.

Hope she overshadows Alia

Give some time, Zoya has potential to make it a multistarrer. Gully boy to Gully gang

Flop, flop, flop, flop, flop

Now I'll watch it !

Love Kalki

What a fine twist in hope the story and direction delivers

If Kalki is in the movie, I just might watch it. She is too good.

Wow. Love her. She'll be great. Alia is going to be overshadowed
