Over the past few days, Janhvi Kapoor has been the talk of the town since the trailer of her film Roohi released. In the film, Janhvi is playing a character that gets possessed by a witch and Rajkummar Rao and Varun Sharma are playing leads with her. Amid this, she has spoken about the criticism she faces due to her privileged background and how she aims to work hard to make her place in people's hearts. The actress recently shared in a chat how her character in Roohi helped her let go of her vanity as well.

In an interaction with PTI, Janhvi shared that she is willing to work hard to win over audiences. She explained that 'scrutiny' is a part of the job that she signed up for and that the viewers are not 'obligated' to love her. She further explained that in her job, she is giving away herself to the audience to love her, and hence, she needs to give them reasons to do so. She claimed that she is willing to work hard and will continue to do so to win over the hearts of everyone. Janhvi told PTI, "You're giving yourself to the people, asking for their love. But they're not obligated to love you, you've to give them reasons to. There's no self-pity or shame in that. I need to keep working to win everyone over. Sure, it's seldom that people win over everyone but I have aspirations to reach that level."

Further, she shared how her character in Roohi is a witch and how it helped her to let go of her vanity. Talking about it, Janhvi said that playing the role made her push her boundaries as it has a duality about it. She said, "Some scenes required me to push myself emotionally. My character Afza is a witch, so obviously you can't be conscious of your vanity. The worst you look, the better it is for the character." She even praised her co-actors Rajkummar and Varun's comic timing and expressed they helped her learn that 'you don't have to do anything extra to be comic.'

Meanwhile, Roohi's trailer released last week and managed to create a lot of buzz among netizens. Janhvi, Rajkummar and Varun's act was loved in the same. Two songs from the film, Panghat and Kiston were launched this week and are doing well on the charts. The film is helmed by Hardik Mehta and produced by Dinesh Vijan. It is all set to release on March 11, 2021.

We need a complete reformation in bullywood. We need real indian actors who are not nepos who can act, who do not have plastic features and bleached skin, who have souls, integrity and brains. Then maybe and just may be bullywood has a chance.

U do realize all actors memorize their answers to mainstream questions like this? And janhvi gets asked this question in every interview since launch (for a reason). And that reason is- people dont like her.

Well said Janhvi these people are just bullies, if you truly believe what you said, you are liberated. From the beginning other person has received the amount of hate janhvi has received and that's why I watched her first film and she wasnt half bad. I understand nepotism and why we don't want it, but most of you shouting nepotism are products of nepotism, got into jobs and some schools because of nepotism. I honestly don't believe an actor is bad because his or her parents were stars or that an outsider is a better actor simply because he or she is an outsider. Janhvi, keep hanging in there and do not seek love from these people because they have no joy, they try to project their miserable lives on to others. You are doing well and would only get better.

Moronic pr propoganda. Nepotsm is not aa widespread as you think. We are where we are because of our own hard work..

Not sure where or how you grew up but no, we are not all products of nepotism. Where do you get such ludicrous ideas ? Support her all you want but please don’t throw us all in the same bucket as her !!!

With all the plastic surgery and skin whitening she has had, it’s hard to take her seriously as an actress.

And Jhanvi kapoor is a pure heart and innocent soul who is ready to work even harder. God vless u with lots of happiness , success and u will make a true superstar in coming years and that too on ur own merits .. god bless

She talented for sure she doesn’t justify like others about her privileges she respect people who criticize her and said it was her choice to come in the industry all she can do is work harder to reach the level she aspires. She gave great expressions in panghat song and didn’t give too many expressions she doesn’t look like a try hard accepts her mistakes she truly is talented and has a great future. She was good in the movie gunjan I think she has amazing potential definitely the only promising nepotism product in girls
