We all remember the pompous proposal in the center of the squared ring on the grandest stage of them, Wrestlemania 33, as John Cena went down on his knee and proposed to Nikki Bella.
An entire year passed by and we all were under the impression that it was nothing but wedded bliss hereafter.
However, in a shocking announcement, the couple broke a million hearts when they announced that they were breaking up after 6 years of dating, ultimately breaking their engagement.
Their rep confirmed the news and said, "After much contemplation and six years of being together Nikki Bella and John Cena announced today their decision to separate as a couple."
Nikki shared their joint statement on Twitter with a caption "We love you all."
The joint statement reads as, "While this decision was a difficult one, we continue to have a great deal of love and respect for one another. We ask that you respect our privacy during this time in our lives."
On the other hand, Cena who is known for his cryptic Instagram posts, posted, "Worst Day Ever!"
This is extremely sad news for all the WWE fans who were rooting for Nena, as they are fondly called.
One of the biggest hurdles for the couple was the topic of marriage and especially kids. As well documented on the reality shows, Total Divas and Total Bellas, John was against the concept of getting married and having kids, while Nikki wanted to become a mother like her sister Brie Bella, who is married to Daniel Bryan and has a daughter, Birdie Danielson.
