Karan Johar's 1998 directorial Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol and Rani Mukerjie will be screened at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne to mark 20 years of the film. Post the screening, Karan will also address the audience, talking about his debut film and it's affect on the pop culture. Speaking about it, Karan said, “I’m excited to be celebrating this landmark year in my professional life at IFFM. It’s been a very rewarding 20 years of a journey and time well spent telling stories and having the freedom to be a storyteller.
Ahead of Independence Day, the tricolor flag was honoured by Karan Johar in Melbourne during IFFM. In the pictures and videos, Karan can be seen in a white and gold coloured traditional attire. The filmmaker not only hoisted the Indian flag at the Federation square but also sang the national anthem with the people. 
Earlier, KJo talked about being given the honour of hoisting the tricolour in Melbourne. As per reports, he said, “I'm looking forward to celebrating Indian Independence Day in one of the world's most vibrant multicultural cities, Melbourne. The sense of community and unity centres around the pride of our flag and the celebration of India's independence is something I'm looking forward to. It's truly an honour for me to be the one this year to hoist our tricolour at the landmark in Melbourne."
