Kevin Hart announces that he will be hosting the 91st Oscars; says now it’s time to rise to the occasion

The actor-comedian took to his Instagram account to announce that he will serve as an MC for the 2019 Oscars

Actor-comedian Kevin Hart is all set to host the 91st Academy Awards. The star took to his Instagram account to announce that he will serve as an MC for the 2019 Oscars which is one of the most prestigious award ceremonies in the world. He announced the news by sharing a photo of Oscars' award statue. “For years I have been asked if I would ever Host the Oscars and my answer was always the same…I said that it would be the opportunity of a lifetime for me as a comedian and that it will happen when it's supposed to. I am so happy to say that the day has finally come for me to host the Oscars," he mentioned. "I am blown away simply because this has been a goal on my list for a long time….To be able to join the legendary list of host that have graced that stage is unbelievable. I know my mom is smiling from ear to ear right now. I want to thank my family/friends/fans for supporting me & riding with me all this time….I will be sure to make this years Oscars a special one. I appreciate the @TheAcademy for the opportunity ….now it’s time to rise to the occasion #Oscars," Hart captioned along with the picture.
 
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences also confirmed the news by posting his photo on Instagram. They wrote: "Meet our new host. Tune in. February 24," the Academy posted. Incidentally, Kevin had expressed his wish to host the iconic awards show. “It would be something I would definitely do just to say I did it in my career. For the unversed, Jimmy Kimmel had earlier hosted the Oscars. He presided over the last two events. Jimmy took to Twitter to congratulate Hart. Congratulations amigo - @TheAcademy made an excellent choice. You are going to kill it," he wrote. Jimmy was the talk of the town back in 2017 as he had announced wrong best picture winner. The 91st Oscars will go air on February 24 on ABC.
