Kriti Sanon has been winning hearts ever since her debut film Heropanti and with her choice of films, Kriti has proved that she is here to take risks and prove her versatility. Post Heropanti, Kriti Sanon was seen in films such as Dilwale, Luka Chuppi, Bareilly Ki Barfi and as we speak, Kriti Sanon is busy with Arjun Patiala starring Diljit Dosanjh. Going by her choice of films, what is clear is that Kriti has a knack for comedy and talking about how Bollywood needs to have more of comic films, Kriti informed Mid-Day, “In the West, spoof has been used well in films like Deadpool (2016), where the characters are making fun of themselves. Personally, I love the genre.”

Shedding light on her upcoming film Arjun Patiala which is a kind of comedy that hasn’t been attempted in Bollywood, Kriti said, “Arjun Patiala is a kind of comedy that hasn't been attempted in Bollywood before. It's an experiment in that regard. As an industry, we need to start taking risks to prosper and grow.” But between horror, romance, comedy and thriller, comedy is the most difficult genre because it isn’t easy to make someone laugh and in Arjun Patiala, as we can tell from the trailer, the lead actors are cracking jokes on themselves. “There are scenes where I had to ham. So, when I would look at the monitor [after delivering the shot], I'd think to myself, 'What am I doing?' But, at the same time, I believe that is way more difficult [than comedy] as we are cracking jokes on ourselves here. You have to convince yourself about what you are doing so that the audience believes it,” said Kriti.

Arjun Patiala stars Kriti Sanon, Diljit Dosanjh and Varun Sharma. But before signing off, Kriti Sanon talks about her co-star Diljit Dosanjh as she is all praises for him. “His comic side has been explored in Punjabi cinema, but has been untapped in Hindi cinema. He has played intense characters in Udta Punjab (2016) and Phillauri (2017). This film will be a treat for the audience because Diljit has a flair for comedy,” informs Kriti. Arjun Patiala is directed by Rohit Jugraj and the film opens in theatres on July 26, 2019.
