In a recent interview, famous Hollywood actor Liam Neeson said that he wanted to kill "a black man', and soon, the 66-year-old actor received major backlash on social media for his violent, discriminatory comment and for stereotyping black people. For the unversed, the controversy started when he recounted a painful incident from his past while he was promoting his current film Cold Pursuit. Neeson revealed that a woman close to him was attacked and raped.

"She handled the situation of the rape in the most extraordinary way," Neeson told in an interview. "But my immediate reaction was ... did she know who it was? No. What colour were they? She said it was a black person."I went up and down areas with a cosh [crowbar], hoping I'd be approached by somebody. I'm ashamed to say that, and I did it for maybe a week -- hoping some  'black bastard' would come out of a pub and have a go at me about something, you know? So that I could kill him."
"Not how old were they? How tall were they? You just asked what color were they? I don't care how sorry you are, Liam Neeson, that is disgusting," one of the Twitter users tweeted. "That Liam Neeson interview is just so saddening (and yes, still racist). It reinforces the idea that people of color, and especially black men, are collectively responsible for the misdeeds of one," tweeted another.

Later, he defended himself saying, "I'm not racist." He added, "This was nearly 40 years ago." I’m not racist. This was nearly 40 years ago, and because I was brought up in the North of Ireland and brought up in the Troubles, the ‘60s, ‘70s, and early ‘80s, there was a war going on in the North of Ireland, and I had acquaintances who were involved in the Troubles, the bigotry," he told.
