Ayushmann Khurrana-Radhika Apte-Tabu’s film Andhadhun by Sriram Raghavan is all set to hit the theatres tomorrow. The film has already received positive reviews from celebs who have watched it at the special screening. There is excitement amongst the audience about the film and opening weekend collections are favourable. Another film that is based on the theme of Navratri, Loveyatri starring Salman Khan’s brother-in-law Aayush Sharma and Warina Hussain is also set to hit the theatres tomorrow. Both the film’s collections will be affected by a strike by the cine association in Madhya Pradesh.

The cine association is opposing a notification issued by the municipal corporations of Bhopal and Indore, levying local body entertainment tax on all films. The tax percentage is upto 15% in Bhopal and 5% in Indore. This is in addition to the 28% Goods and Services Tax on cinema tickets. All the members of the Multiplex Association of India have now announced that they will not be in operation in Madhya Pradesh and will go on a strike October 5, 2018 onwards. Madhya Pradesh falls under CP Bearar distributors region and Central India distributor region. There are around 210 single screens and 114 multiplexes in Madhya Pradesh.

With both, Loveyatri and Andhadhun releasing on October 5, 2018, box office collections of these films will definitely be affected. Even single screen theatres have decided to join the strike, hence the audience will not be able to watch these films in Madhya Pradesh.

The cinema association is protesting against the double taxation on cinema tickets. We will have to see when this matter is resolved and when these two films release in the state of Madhya Pradesh.
