Manikarnika actor Ankita Lokhande: I wish to play Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s heroine opposite Salman Khan

Ankita Lokhande is all set to maker her Bollywood debut with Manikarnika. In an interview, the actress said that she would love to work in a Sanjay Leela Bhansali movie alongside Salman Khan.

Ankita Lokhande made her acting debut in 2009 with the show Pavitra Rishta. She starred alongside Sushant Singh Rajput in the show. They played the roles of Archana and Manav, and people loved their love story and the family drama in it. A few years ago, the show went off air. Since then, fans have been waiting for their favourite actress to come back with a new project. The wait is now over for Ankita fans as she will be making her Bollywood debut with the film Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi. The film also stars Kangana Ranaut.

In Manikarnika, the actress plays the role of Jhalkaribai and Kangana Ranaut will be portraying Rani Laxmibai. In an interview with Tellychakkar, the actress was asked which Bollywood actor she would like to work with. Ankita answered, "For me, content is the hero and I am okay being paired with anyone. But yes I would love to work with Sanjay Leela Bhansali as I admire his knowledge and his sense for cinema. And yes, at least once, I wish to play Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s heroine opposite Salman Khan."

When asked if she would only do films now, the actress said that she has given 6 years of her life to TV. Ankita added that people know her more as Archana than Ankita and she won't put a full stop to working in TV shows.

Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi is slated to release on January 25, 2019.
