On Tuesday, the All India Cine Workers Association (AICWA) banned known singer Mika Singh from the Indian film industry for performing at an event in Karachi, Pakistan. The event in Pakistan was organised by a close relative of former president of Pakistan, Pervez Musharraf. "AICWA takes a stand of boycotting all his association with movie production houses, music companies, and online music content providers," AICWA President Suresh Shyamlal Gupta said in a statement.
Gupta further added, "AICWA will make sure that no one in India works with Mika Singh and if anyone does, they will face legal consequences in the court of law". The film association said, "When the tension between the countries is at the peak, Mika Singh puts money above the nation's pride."
Many Indian filmmakers didn't release their films in Pakistan recently, post the Pulwama terror attack on 14 February. The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) had also announced a ban on Pakistani artists in the country. More problems started between the two countries after India scrapped Article 370 and 35A. After Pakistan banned the screening of Indian films in their country, AICWA demanded a complete ban on Pakistani artists, diplomats and bilateral relations with Pakistan and its people.
