On Friday, the Bombay High Court declined to allow a stay on the release of Mission Mangal, sought by US-based filmmaker Radha Bharadwaj. She alleged copyright infringement and violation of confidentiality against the makers. The upcoming space film is based on India’s 2014 Mars Orbiter Mission aka Mangalyaan. Since the multi-starrer is releasing on this independence Day, the matter was listed on priority in court.
Apparently, Radha is making  Space Moms, based on women scientists of ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation), had alleged that Ellipsis Entertainment had forwarded her script to Vidya Balan, who is one of Misson Mangal’s actresses. Later on, she leaked the same to R Balki. And then, Balki got Akshay Kumar, Fox Star Studios and director Jagan Shakti on board. Bharadwaj also shared that her film was not getting buyers because of the Hindi film.
After hearing the statements of both the sides, being Bharadwaj on one hand and Akshay Kumar, Balki, Jagan, Balan and Ellipsis on the other. Justice Girish Kulkarni, who was hearing the matter refused to stop the release of Mission Mangal. According to the judgement, the judge claimed that Radha had failed to file an appropriate case for ad-interim relief. Justice Kulkarni added that it’s not possible to alleged copyright infringement by simply looking at the similarities between the script of Space Moms (which wasn’t submitted) and the teaser and trailer of Mission Mangal. Mission Mangal features a huge star cast of Akshay Kumar, Taapsee Pannu, Sonakshi Sinha, Vidya Balan, Kirti Kulhari, Nithya Menon and Sharman Joshi.
